I cant believe it, but I just reserved a rental car. I love Magical Express, but there were a couple early morning plans that would require Uber, and we were thinking of Ubering back to the airport on the way home. I found a fantastic price on a car, and went for it! I may change my mind, but for the moment we have a car reserved from Budget.

I love to comparison shop, to check prices, try different discount codes, etc. Fortunately, or not, depending on how you look at it – I qualify for AARP (Yikes!!!) – they have some great deals through Budget. The other major brands were not even close to competitive, so I pulled the trigger and reserved the car. I now will be planning when to take the car, when to take buses. I want to be as efficient with our time as possible.

Another bonus of having a car is that we can stop at a store on the way down and grab waters, snacks, and anything else that I dont want to pack. I was going to have stuff delivered, but this will be easier! To be honest, for the most part, the car will sit in the parking lot. But I think its about a break even as far as costs vs. uber, paying to have the groceries delivered, and the added time we’ll have because of having the car available. I was trying to figure out how we could swing a round of mini golf, but the transportation would have been time consuming – now we can just drive over and park if we want to do it.

I don’t know if we can leave the car at other resort parking lots overnight. I will need to figure that out. We have to drive To Ft. Wilderness early for our Segway Tour. I was planning to just leave the car there, then after our segway taking the boat to MK, and continue on with our day. We may still do that, and if I am able to leave the car in the lot overnight, we’ll go get it the following day. If not, we’ll just have to plan a stop back over at Ft Wilderness to pick it up before we go to bed. Either way – not a big deal 🙂

Another thing I will need to figure out is tolls. I think I’ll just grab a roll of quarters and throw them in my carryon. I cant imagine that the tolls round-trip would be more than $10. I heard its about $3.50 ea way max. Hopefully that’s true. Budget has an etoll thing in the car, but you have to pay $3.95/day of the reservation to use it. So I wont be doing that. I hope I can opt out. People say you have to open the cover of it for it to be activated – I’ll just leave it closed.
